Washington, D.C. - Today, The American Gaming Association Released A New Study That Provides Insight Into The Diversity Of The Gaming Workforce. The Findings Show That The Gaming Industry Is More Diverse Than National And Hospitality Benchmarks, With A Diverse Executive Pipeline, While Identifying Opportunities For Gender Representation.

 

"Consumers, Policymakers And Investors Are Raising Their Expectations Of How All Businesses Can Contribute To Society Beyond The Bottom Line." "The Survey, Which Covers Data From The Business, Tribal And Manufacturing Game Verticals, Both Highlights Our Industry'S Leadership In Diversity While Also Demonstrating Areas Where Continued Progress Is Needed."

 

The Results Of The Study Show Tangible Results Of The Industry'S Broad Reach And Commitment To Representing Local Communities:

More Than Six In Ten (61%) Gaming Employees Are Minorities, Compared To 52% In The Broader Hospitality Industry And 42% In The Total U.S. Workforce.


Twenty-Three Percent Of Gaming Employees Are Hispanic And 19 Percent Are Black - Both Higher Than The National Workforce And On Par With The Hospitality Industry.


Sixty Percent Of Operator Employees Are Minorities, An Increase Of Nearly 20 Percent From 2011 And Higher Than The Hospitality Industry And The National Workforce Overall.


Forty-Five Percent Of Game Maker Employees Are Minorities, Compared To 38 Percent Of The Broader Electronics Manufacturing Workforce.
Importantly, At All Job Levels, The Gaming Industry'S Leadership Pipeline Is Significantly More Diverse Than The National Average At The Tier I/Mid-Level Manager And Professional Levels: 45% Of Tier I/Mid-Level Managers Are Minorities, While 43% Of Professionals Are Minorities, Both In The 10 To 12 Points Above The National And Hospitality Benchmarks.

 

Gender Diversity Provides Opportunities For The Industry. Women Make Up 48 Percent Of The Gaming Workforce, On Par With The National Workforce, But The Percentage Of Women Declines In More Senior Job Classifications.
